Ethics, Transparency & Vision

Genesis

I created this site -- and all of the initial 900 skateboard designs -- to connect with other human beings, whether they skate or not, because I believe everybody is a skateboarder and artist at their core.

This entire website, except where product details are required, is written in the first person because I'm writing it. Me to you.

You are important. I am important.

Promises

I promise to treat you with respect. I ask that you do the same.

Vision

My youngest son is a skateboarder and extreme athlete who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2008. Since then he’s grown into an amazing man. The disease, however, has left him insulin dependent, which means that his life relies on consistent access to insulin to stay alive.

At the beginning of the pandemic, when many uncertainties arose, I was concerned that the price of insulin would skyrocket. This site, in addition to displaying my art, was designed to generate enough income to ensure the required monies to purchase insulin. Despite my son being an adult, I still get concerned, because he is my son.

Like any father.

Transparency I:

I sell skateboard decks

Boom.

Transparency I:

I work with ecommerce affiliates

I sell skateboard decks and t-shirts. That’s it.

Skaters need more. Trucks. Wheels. Bearings. Helmets. Grip tape. When friends like you make a purchase at an affiliate website with whom I partner, I get a little commission on your purchase. Not to worry, your price doesn’t change. Nuf said.

Transparency III:

I work with companies to help you understand their products and services

At times, I’ll share blog posts that review different kinds of products, services and companies. Artist interviews, skater profiles, performance comparisons, event reports, company news and promotional offers will be featured. At times, other writers, athletes and insiders will create content offering their unique perspectives. In most cases, I’ll make a little money.

Transparency IV:

I build, maintain and market ecommerce and general purpose websites

This site is built on the Shopify platform. I am a Certified Shopify Expert. Helping clients develop a strong online presence that translates into consistent considerable profits is my bread and butter. Offering comprehensive project management, I manage software development, create marketing programs and deliver creative services that help companies sell stuff.

Transparency V:

I work with medium and large-sized companies to create promotional programs and giveaway events -- both live and online

Deck Drops are an example of the kind of promotional program I create and manage that put a marketer's brand in front of my audience. The programs are designed to benefit both the marketer and my skateboard customers by bringing each together to learn more about the other.

Transparency VI:

I collect customer contact information (all opt-in and clearly marked) in order to introduce new ideas and programs

A pilot program will launch at the end of 2023 that will offer a free monthly sticker mailer to any subscriber who requests to be on the mailing list. The required contact information may be used to reach my customers with communications about my corporate clients, but your contact information will never be sold directly to anybody.

Transparency VlI:

I am trained in Python, SQL, R, HTML and XML

I believe in data. Hard data. Long term success in any future enterprise will be built on a thorough understanding of market data – the ability to identify, explore and navigate up-to-the-minute trends will be critical.

Transparency VlII:

I sometimes offer services to companies in the same vertical categories

It's a small world and clients want expertise not just on technology but on their products and services. I'm particularly suited to help ecommerce companies whose products or services are sometimes the same. For example, I could be working for two car dealerships or three law firms or multiple apparel companies at the same moment. Respective strategies and tactics will remain confidential.

The exception to this fact is lead generation, especially when an SEO project is involved. There is a distinct difference between building a website or ecommerce website and trying to generate traffic. In some cases, i will be responsible for both, in which cases clients in the same vertical will be excluded to one. In all cases, I disclose my client base before I agree to work with any company.

Transparency IX:

I sometimes outsource creative and technical services during project management

I try to deliver personal creative because I often have a specific vision but, if I'm managing a project that requires expertise that I don't possess, I will outsource the deliverable. Additionally, if deadlines and/or technical needs require outsourcing, I will do so. At times, the outsourcing will include using talent from across the globe.
